Sundari Joseph is a dancer/choreographer from Brooklyn, NY. She studied at her parents’ dance school Purelements:An Evolution in Dance up until age 15 and transferred to Harlem School of the Arts at 16 years old where she trained closely under Leyland Simmons and Aubrey Lynch. She is a recent graduate from the Sharon Disney Lund School of Dance (Calarts) and has worked with choreographers like Sharon Eyal, Sidra Bell, Andrea Miller, Sara Silkin, Omar Roman De Jesus, Kashia Kancey, and Alonzo King. She has been co-creating Silice Amorphe with Selma Stocker since 2025 and together they have performed their duet in places such as THE PLACE, CALARTS, Charleroi Danse (Brussels) and Target Margin Theatre. This past June, Sundari was selected as a choreographer/mentee from Sidra Bell to make a WIP at the NextFest Choreo Composer showcase at the Gibney Theatre. Sundari Sundari has found a passion for attuning to the pain and pleasures of human nature which feed into a more unconventional yet athletic style of dance. She is deliberately aware of curating a space for dancers, and herself, who constantly feel othered for non traditional exploration. She naturally approaches life with humor, being slightly rebellious, and anti-authoritarian which uplifts her interpersonal imagination illustrated through her internal rhythm. Sundari just presented a 30 minute improvisational solo at the Hidden Jewel Box Theatre and will continue working on it through the MODARTS residency.
