Event Description

NBNY presents the public premiere of Brambilla’s latest film. Creation 3D completes the “Megaplex Trilogy,” a multiple-year project that culminates here. Brambilla works in the medium of cinema, creating artworks that collage moving images in 3-D videos of extraordinary detail, depth, and spectacle. Creation 3D remixes a dizzying array of hundreds of film clips, illustrating human history from the Big Bang to scenes of apocalyptic destruction in an endlessly repeating cycle.

This 3-D installation in the Basilica of St Patrick’s Old Cathedral builds on a previous collaboration in 2011 during the inaugural Festival of Ideas for the New City. For the 2013 installation at IDEAS CITYNBNY has created an immersive environment that further integrates the piece with this unique setting and context. Interior lighting has been designed to extend the video into the architecture and notable musicians have been invited to create live scores to surround the audience. The installation received major sponsorship from Audemars Piguet, and is also made possible by a number of additional supporters.
