Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.: Maximilian is a LEIMAY-CAVE Black Studio Resident since October 2010. He is currently working with Helga Davis on a project called CASSANDRA that was recently shown at the Park Avenue Armory. Their collaboration BLUE WEDDING was seen at Movement Research at Judson Church in February, 2011.

With Ben Spatz and Urban Research Theater, Maximilian created and performed in PLAYWAR (Abrons Arts Center 2012; Medicine Show Theatre 2010; Movement Research Festival 2010) and directed THEATRICALE (Lincoln Center Atrium 2011; The Living Theatre 2011). These works were supported by La Mama Experimental Theatre, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, and the Movement Research Artist-in-Residence program. Other recent performances include Arturo Vidich’s BODY ISLAND (Abrons Arts Center 2011), James Scruggs’s TICKETS TO MANHOOD (“Hot!” Festival at Dixon Place 2011), Korean singer Jihae’s FIRE BURNING RAIN (Highline Ballroom 2011), and a staged reading of new works by Italian playwright Mario Fratti. Maximilian also showed a new solo work, WHITE GRASS, at the SOAK Festival in May 2011 at CAVE.

Before moving to New York City in 2008, Maximilian worked for five years with director Anne Zenour in Siena. As co-founder of the performance group Teatro della Pioggia, he created several original theatrical works including TRAMPS, PINNOCHIO, AGAMENNONE, and the solo performance PADRONE E SERVITORE. During this period Maximilian also worked with Stefano Vercelli in Italy and also with Mamadou Dioume, an actor with Peter Brook’s International Centre for Theatre Research. In 2006, he spent six months living in Bali, Indonesia, studying Balinese dance and song with Guru I Made Bukel and Guru I Nyoman Tchandri.

Maximilian has taught workshops and master classes at Lincoln Center, Emerson College, Brooklyn College, The College of Staten Island, LEIMAY-CAVE, and Actors Movement Studio.
