About: Please tell us about your self. Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.: Hi, I am Nicolas Noreña, I am a theater maker from Colombia. I've been living in New York since 2008 and I currently live in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. I graduated from the Experimental Theatre Wing and ever since I've had the pleasure of working with Richard Foreman, Mary Overlie, Jeff Weiss, Katie Brook, The Talking Band, Jess Barbagallo, Object Collection and Target Margin among others.
I am the artistic director of THE MILLION UNDERSCORES,an experimental theater company through which I have created, directed, produced, designed and performed over ten original productions over the past six years. Our work has been presented at The Museum of Modern Art, Target Margin Theater, The Brick Theater, Triskleion Arts, and Vital Joint, among others, and we have been part of festivals such as FringeNYC, SOAK, The Exponential Festival and REGION(ES).
We were part of Mabou mines Resident Artist Program in 2015-2016, and were Target Margin LAB artists in 2019.
We have been LEIMAY fellows since 2015 and the white studio at Cave home of LEIMAY has been the place where we have been developing our work, our practice and our community since.
Besides making theater I also teach Mary Overlie's Six Viewpoints at The Experimental Theater Wing in NYU, curate dance and movement performance at The Brick Theater, and run a biodynamic farm in Colombia.
