- José Rivera, Jr. is a NYC based performer and creator. He is a fourth-year student in the Department of Drama's Experimental Theatre Wing at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. At ETW, José focuses on vocal composition, improvisation, and choreography. He is currently creating his senior performance thesis, "Of Cake & Vanity: A Musical Painting." The piece explores Queer Identity and Transformation by merging techniques in performance art and dance theater.
Recent acting credits include the Department of UG Drama's Meisner Studio production of Mad Forest (Radu), the ETW mainstage ACTING: the First 6 Lessons (Creature Chorus), Forever Dog Production's Dream Date (Antonio), and the Tisch Drama StageWorks productions of Spring Awakening (Dr. Von Brausepulver) and the diSPlACEment Project (Dancer).
José has most recently choreographed the Tisch Drama GAP Production of In the Heights. Other choreo credits include Passing Strange (PHTS), The Girl Who Was Plugged in (PHTS), and Songs for a New World (GAP).
