Individual or Collective?
Zavé is a video artist and emerging performer. His films, performances, and installations have received support from community arts organizations and festivals in the U.S. and abroad. He has produced community theater, organized arts education and curated exhibits, film screenings and performance series working with PS1, the MIX Queer Experimental Film Festival, FIERCE, Theater Transgression, into the neon and New Children/New York.

Zavé’s most recent interests are in performance-based video art and movement. In 2009, he joined Accidental Movement, working with choreographer Mariangela Lopez and performing at Dance New Amsterdam in 2010 and at Danspace in 2011. In the Spring of 2011, he participated in EMERGENYC, a workshop for emerging artists at the Hemispheric Institute of Performance and Politics. Zavé launched a video and performance series, “autogeography” in the workshop and is currently continuing production.

The second day at the New Museum felt really productive. It was good to have more time the second time to explore and also the basic foundations of the previous afternoon. I definitely felt the sense of potential that we'd been talking about as "neutral body," that energetic potential. At the end of the night, despite some soreness and tiredness, my body felt really primed. Ready for anything.

When the egg finally stood, it was a magical feeling. As if lightness had suddenly lifted all its weight upwards into the sky. I had been holding it with such gentle guidance for so long, wondering what tiny molecular balance it would take to reach equilibrium, and finally I pulled my fingers away as quickly as possible when it happened.
