The Hidden Sayings, a new work by the Open Program presented in the form of an etude, is a creative exploration of the interaction between songs from the south of the United States, which belong to the slave tradition, and texts related to early Christianity, translated from Coptic and coming from Egypt, the Middle East and Greece. The potential explored by this work manifests through basic, simple and yet complex elements – action, contact, word, singing, dance -- that combine to create conditions for a new kind of encounter to take place.
