About: Please tell us about your self. Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.
Johanna Roggan was born in Dresden, Germany in 1984. During her education she studied Eurythmics (movement methodology by Rudolf Steiner) as well as acting. Since then she has developed an intense love for the performing arts.
Between 2003 and 2008 she recieved her dance education at the Imma Birgit Buhl school, Nürnberg (DE), danceworks berlin, Berlin (DE) and the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität, Linz (AT) where she studied the multiple facets of both modern and contemporary dance.
Afterwards, she completed the GYROKINESIS® teacher training in Linz and Berlin.

She developed her first dance pieces during her studies. Aside from smaller works, in 2006 she collaberated on a joint project (“Improfil“) with musicians from the Hans-Eißler music academy in Berlin. Using improvisation as the working medium, the thematic focus was the correlations between a dancers appraoch to music and a musicans appraoch to dance.

Fascinated with the versatality of new media with the field of performing arts, she came to work with the TMA (trans media academy) Hellerau (DE) in 2008. A network of musicians, video artists, software designers, cultural managers, dancers and visionaries arose.
The latest work within the context of interactive performance, "IDOL TASK – celebrity showcase" had its premiere at the CynetArt festival #13in Dresden.
In an interactive performance visitors are invited to playfully deal with the topic of media-affirmed celebrity. They determine the protagonists' life and career in an either constructive or destructive way. Visitors become doers, who can't deny their responsibility. At any time, they influence imagery, sound and the damatic composition of the performance, directly. Stress and peace, discretion and voyeurism, joy and seriousness. How real are the consequences of our actions in virtual space?

Johanna Roggans impulse to search for new movements eventually brought her to Tel Aviv (IL) at the end of 2008. Since her arrival she has danced with the Dana Ruttenberg Dance Group.
In 2009 she gave a dance workshop für palestinian and israeli children and teenagers in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Windows (channel for communication).
Additionally, she teaches GYROKINESIS® to the Inbal Pinto Dance Company on a regular basis, amongst other places.

In the beginning of March 2010 Johanna Roggan returned back to Germany. Since then she works closely with the Trans-Media-Academy Hellerau.
Since July she started an intense working period with Chaim Gebber.
And she produced her first dance-film.

Johanna Roggan has had the chance to work with many choreographers, including:
Ana Catalina Román, Richard Siegal, Maya Lispker, Yossi Youngman, Martin Sonderkamp, Joseph Tmim, Editta Braun, Norman Douglas, Kathinka Sonneborn, Iwan Wolfe, Rosalia Ortega Fernandez, Teresa Ranieri, Jianan Qu, Robert Hewitt and the HELMNOT Theatre Lichtenstein (DE).
In the fields of acting and physical theatre she has worked with Friedrich Bührer, Gudrun Scheibner and actors of the “Theater der jungen Generation“, Dresden (DE).
