About: Please tell us about your self. Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.
Evvie began her formal dance training in Birmingham, Alabama, under the tutelage of Wes Chapman, Roger van Fleteran and Teri Weksler (American Ballet Theatre, Paris Opera Ballet, Mark Morris Dance Group). She spent her summers at American Ballet Theatre’s and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet’s summer intensives, where she was cast in feature roles.
Currently she is interested in reuniting art with the everyday, in the arts of performance versus non-performance, and in sensation, media theory, and socialization. Chatroulette is her first foray into the realm of video.
Evvie is a graduate of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, and has been a resident of New York since January 2010. She is a nanny and yoga instructor and looks forward to teaching workshops on dancing the imagination at Chez Bushwick in Brooklyn.
Evvie was awarded American Dance Festival’s 2010 Young Artist Tuition Scholarship.
She is currently working to build a company.
Background:
