This June two-week workshop intensive is designed to get you out of your head and into your body. It is an opportunity to trust the body’s wisdom and let meaning rise out of matter. This systematic and original methodology is a fusion of physical theater modalities culled from Western practices (Psycho-physical actions, Viewpoints), Eastern practices (Butoh, Kundalini yoga) and related performance disciplines (Mask, Puppetry).
This hybrid technique expands on these influences through exercises based on what we will call ‘States of Being’ that explore who we are at any given moment and how that changes according to the activation of specific behavioral, physiological and psychological conditions of existence. By accessing these interconnected states of being through physical, vocal and emotive explorations participants become versed in the practice of embodied performance in which they inhabit the immediacy of their instincts, experience and imagination through individual and collective exercises.
In this two-week workshop intensive, participants will practice:
* Activation of instincts, experiences, imagination
* Physical and vocal experimentation
* Application of techniques to text, image, and object
* Collaboration with the collective
* Expansion of the individual artistic instrument
