"For though the moon is NOT a river it is the mother of all rivers, and the songs that rivers sing they learned long ago when the moon spoke and went about like you or I, though better."
The Disastrous Tale of Vera & Linus is a playful and haunting book of short stories and schemes brought to life with a final pop-up performance on Saturday evening (9/20) at Coney Island, Brooklyn. Kipuka Theater’s unique theatrical experience is designed to spin a ripple into the everyday lives of those who co-inhabit the space with Vera and Linus, and as the sun dips below the horizon, join the fated two as they give themselves to the moon one last time.
Inspired by the experimental 1975 Tokyo street performance “Knock” by avant-garde theater troupe Tenjo Sajiki, our version will provide a map, schedule and context via text message and email. From hidden corners to bustling streets, audiences receive the key to the tales and can explore the show anyway they want.
Prices: The “Intimate Track” - $25.00, Individualized and precisely timed text messages will be sent to the audience member to provide instructions, directions and context. The “Panoramic Track” - $5.00, Audience members will receive a map and schedule via email prior to the performance.
Tickets must be purchased in advance at www.kipukatheater.com
