Event Description

The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the University of London's dedicated conservatoire of drama, is holding international auditions and interviews in New York.

As part of the overseas auditions tour, we will be holding a free practical workshop to offer an insight into Central's pioneering MA Movement Studies courseThe session will be led by course tutor, Dr. Jane Munro, and participants will be lead through a series exercises in sensory experience and contact dance based tasks, with a view to enabling performers to work with sensory and emotional awareness in relation to devising scenes and creating movement for theatre.

The workshop will be held at Ripley-Grier Studios and will start at 4:00pm lasting approximately 90 minutes; there will be an opportunity for those who would like to be interviewed for the course, immediately after this workshop.

MA Movement Studies is a pioneering programme for those who wish to teach and direct movement. It is designed for those with skills from a range of physical disciplines (e.g. sports, yoga, dance, physical theatre) and who want to pursue careers as:

        - Actor movement teachers
        - Movement directors
        - Theatre choreographers
        - Movement for ensemble theatre-makers
        - Movement coaches for film/animation/puppetry.
