Event Description

Childhood, sex and death become collaged in images and videos compiled in Christy Singleton’s “All the Joy, Desire and Rage II.” The project began as an installation in her apartment and merged Singleton’s interests in electronic music with her video. Distilled instinct and emotion flow through Singleton’s collages and videos. In one sequence, the artist’s portraits at different ages are congealed into one image. She creates a liquefied version of herself- time dissolves certainty into an uncontrolled subconscious version of self. In another video sequence, Singleton examines desire through the sterile lense of a plastic surgeon’s before and after images of headless breast enlargement patients. This performance was organized by Jon Newman. 9PM PETER LOBO: SELECTIONS FROM “FLOWING WATER” AND NEW SONGS Accomplished composer and musician Peter Lobo accompanies Singleton’s music on guitar, with ambient chords woven into Singleton’s vocals and electronic compositions. Lobo will also be playing some of his songs from his recently released solo album, “Flowing Water,” and new songs for a forthcoming album, after the video performance.
