Kristin began to dance as a child, in improvisational spinning, and was encouraged to continue on into ballet, jazz, and tap, going on to receive a BFA with honors at the University of the Arts, dancing with Ausdruckstanz Dancetheater, performing as soloist with musicians and visual artists, including WOZ, Toshi Makihara, at Andrea Clearfield's Salon, Underground at Ron's, the Delaware Hospice, various congregations and with resident choral ensembles. Vocal work includes singing with the Choral Arts Society, NW Mahler Orchestra, Texas Choral Consort, the Philadelphia Chorus, and the Bach Festival of Philadelphia. She has performed with Dappin Butoh, Haruko Nishimura, her Salon, and at the Art in Nature festival and Alternative Music Festival of Seattle. She has been a member of ensemble pieces presented at the NY Butoh Festival, and with Joan Laage, Moeno Wakamatsu, Claire Barrett, LEIMAY, and CAVE Ensemble in NY, as well as producing original work with Jeremy Slater and Khristal Curtis. She performed at Masaki Iwana's Summer Workshop Performance in France, and with Joan Laage in Krakow in 2005. In Austin she created work for First Night Austin with Amy Benenate, and in the Big Range Dance Festival with Spank Dance, directed by Ellen Bartel. She performed most recently at the Pecos Benedictine Monastery, Hummingbird Cafe, and at Santa Maria de la Paz, in NM, and with vocalist Holly Phares, and musician Richard Marcus in Philadelphia at the Last Monday Series, as well as the Group Motion Performance Project. She has an MA in Religion from Temple University, was grantwriter/editor for CAVE Organization, Inc., and deeply honored to study at the private schools of Masaki Iwana and Akira Kasai, as well as participating in workshops with Diego Pinon, Su-en, Yukio Waguri, and so many other inspiring butoh dancers, musicians, and profoundly moving contemporary artists.
