Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.: Yael Gaathon is an Israeli - Danish actress, director, butoh dancer and choreographer.
She completed her acting studies in Israel in ’93, after which she joined the internationally acclaimed Itim Theater Ensemble and toured with them extensively. In ’95, during her work with the Ensemble, Yael was introduced to butoh and received regular butoh training until 2000 when she left the company. Since then she has traveled several times to Japan to study butoh with her teacher Yoshito Ohno, and has taken workshops and classes with various other butoh masters and teachers.
In 2002 Yael moved to Denmark, where she established her company Blue Cliff and began to choreograph and direct solo and group pieces.
Since 2002 she has been teaching a great deal, giving butoh workshops as well as training and teaching actors and dancers in film, the state theater schools in Denmark, private theater schools, the Danish Actors Association, and in various dance and theater training programs.
Yael is currently based in Aarhus, Denmark.
