About: Please tell us about your self. Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.
Terre Dance Collective is a group of movement artists creating emotionally engaging and physically compelling contemporary dance. We strive to create financially accessible movement experiences for artists & audiences. Those experiences include our Collective Grounding class series and our Layers performance platform. Terre was established in July 2017 by Artistic Director Robert Rubama.

Exploration and collaboration are a large part of our creative work. We believe that movement is the connective tissue of the universe and brings all bodies together.

In 2019, we were the Artists in Residence at the National Building Museum and had the opportunity to collaborate with NYC-based architecture firm The Lab @ Rockwell. Terre was also the Fall 2021 Artist in Residence at The Floor (Brooklyn, NY). Terre has presented work in the 1Journey Festival (DC), Spaces Gallery (OH), Cleveland Public Theater (OH), The Cleveland Dance Festival (OH), The Tank(NYC), Triskelion Arts (NYC), Arts on Site (NYC), TADA Youth Theater (NYC), & Kaatsbaan (NY).

As a mover/maker, I explore softness as a way to connect with yourself & those around you, a way to heal and navigate trauma, and as a medium to express oneself. This exploration has manifested itself via a series of movement improvisation classes, my solo improvisation practices, and I use it as a basis for all of my choreographic work.

Softness is the quality of being easy to mold. It is the ability to remain open and malleable. Softness is a way to adapt, adjust, flow, and breathe through any situation, whether beneficial or adverse.
