Margaret Mighty Oak Brackey is an NYC-based dancer/choreographer/artist. She grew up studying Graham Technique, Ballet, and Dance Composition, while simultaneously running through the bogs of Wisconsin. In 2022, Margaret graduated with a BFA in Dance from Adelphi University. Her Honors Thesis, “Birds Into Bodies: Synthesizing Research and Dance”, which mitigated bird/window collisions on campus, was awarded the Levermore Prize for Best Senior Thesis.
Most recently, Margaret’s duet, “Forecast”, was produced by the Sokolow Theatre/Dance Ensemble and performed at Stone Circle Theater. She has shown multiple works at Spoke the Hub, and guest-choreographed for 32nd Pack Dance Company. She holds monthly collaborative “Playdays” to generate new ideas and is currently exploring community-building through improvisation with live musicians. Her artistic practice is rooted in interdisciplinary experiences: of living through the holocene extinction, of moving in a changing environment, of documenting the world through writing, and witnessing the other-than-human-lives with whom we share the planet.
