The Alchemical Theatre Laboratory is a true laboratory and salon where artists can engage in the research & development of new works, teach classes & workshops, and share their work in public performances, always followed by a colloquial reception offering lively discussion and good cheer. Our aim is to have the public events here be informative, inspiring, and fun; to engender a meaningful discourse between artists and public.

By providing affordable creative spaces for emerging NYC artists in theatre, music, and the visual arts, we strive to catalyze our dedication to research into the contemporary meaning and nature of live performance.

We are committed to developing the social potential of performance, and actively foster a real discourse between artists & the public. Since we regard the theatrical experience as a creative public assembly; the audience is an important partner in fulfilling our mission. Our events tend to attract other artists, affording the attending public a personal engagement rarely found in bigger, less colloquial spaces.

We are an artist-run facility and understand the importance of your work. We strive to maintain a respectful & constructive atmosphere to support the community of artists we serve. The artistic director is Carlo Altomare, with Gia Lisa Krahne. Together they also run the Alchemical Theatre Acting Company.

Affordable, clean spaces for emerging NYC artists in theatre, music & the visual arts: Rehearsals, performances, classes, workshops, readings, photo/video shoots, special events & art exhibits.

The Alchemical Theatre Laboratory is also a unique downtown salon for experimental theatre, music and performance. Following each event, we encourage salon-like gatherings with a food & wine reception, in an atmosphere of congenial discourse, to promote intellectual community among thoughtful artists and free spirits.
