Andrea Beeman is a performing artist & choreographer whose versatile performance palette ranges from the traditional dances of the Middle East & India to technologically savvy multi-media performance art. Since 1987 she has performed in theaters, concert halls, cabarets, restaurants, nightclubs, museums, festivals, & universities in NYC & abroad.
Andrea’s choreography has been presented in venues ranging from New York City’s Town Hall to burlesque reviews in nightclubs. In 1999 she created her performance persona the Enchantress of Bioluminosity to present her light imbued choreography & in 2010 expanded her vision to include the Sparks in the Dark in theatrical settings. Her ensemble the Dancing Rubies has performed at NYC cultural events since 1999.
Andrea’s multidisciplinary collaborations with artists, filmmakers & musicians have been seen at the MoMA PS1 VW Dome (with Gen Ken Montgomery), New York’s Symphony Space (with Amy Greenfield), the Rhode Island Symphony Orchestra (with R.A. Fish), & around the world (interactive Lamination Rituals with the Minister of Lamination). She performed throughout the US & Europe with the post-punk/new wave electronic band Crash Course in Science from 2009-2017.
Andrea has performed as a Middle Eastern dance soloist and company member with Elena Lentini’s Caravanserai, New York Performing Artists Company, Anahid Sofian & Dancers, & Jehan Kamal’s Ballet Exotiqa, among others. She performed with Seema Iyer as a Lotus Bollywood Dancer. She studies classical Indian Odissi dance with Bani Ray & Guru Durga Charan Ranbir. She is the recipient of Dance Parade's 2016 SU-CASA Residency, LMCC's Creative Engagement Grant, LMCC's 2019 SU-CASA Grant, & Emily Harvey Foundation's 2019 Venice residency.
