Ballet Inc. gives a platform to an array of diverse, talented artists while challenging the performing arts and dance normative. Our goal is provide opportunities to these individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, body type or traditional dancer ‘limitations’. Ballet Inc. combines an eclectic accessible range of genres of dance to create an individual contemporary ballet esthetic that showcases each artist’s uniqueness and prowess.



Ballet Inc. was founded in 2012 by Executive Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer Aaron Atkins and Former Executive Director Edgar Peterson III . Aaron and Edgar felt that there was a need for diversity within the dance community that appeared to only celebrate artist of very specific backgrounds and skillsets. Ballet Inc.’s mission is currently home to a company of 17 freelance artist whom all represent many backgrounds and talents. Ballet Inc. has performed at 50 national artist cultural exchange festivals along the East coast and has been acknowledged internationally for its mission and work since its inaugural season in 2012. Ballet Inc. has provided 4 full length evenings to date and curated 2 annual events in which all genres of art have a platform to showcase their voice to a diverse audience in an unconventional throughout New York City. Each season Ballet Inc. reaches nearly 3,000 patrons to the arts through its festival touring along the East coast, social media and performances. In 2013 until present, Ballet Inc. has partnered with Jamaica Performing Arts Center in Jamaica Queens New York. This partnership offers outreach to inner city communities within Queens where resources to performing arts are limited. Annually Jamaica Performing Arts Center reaches over 76,579 people living within Jamaica Queens. This Partnership has allowed Ballet Inc. to create a starting point for reaching a larger community with its mission annually. The partnership provides performances, lectures and dance instruction free of charge to all to whom are interested. Ballet Inc. feels diversity in the arts and communities is essential to every community.
