The egg-shaped pieces of pottery that I sculpted for this performance are of porcelain clay, and between the two panels, there are a total of twelve pots. Twelve alludes to the numbers on a clock face, to the twelve months in a calendar year, and, more generally, to the passage of time and life. The action in both panels -- the shattering of the pot in the left-hand video, and, in the second video, the act of disrobing and crossing the pottery circle -- symbolize an abandonment of ego in time, and the discovery of Being.
