A new program to showcase New Jersey’s best up-and-coming dancemakers! Accomplished mentors partner with four young choreographers from the Garden State to develop works that will be premiered at NJPAC.
An initiative of Jersey Moves! Festival of Dance – now in its fifth year – Jersey (New) Moves! Emerging Choreographers features never-before-seen pieces by artists selected through an open, online submission process. Mentors include Carolyn Dorfman, Artistic Director of Carolyn Dorfman Dance Company; Randy James, Artistic Director of 10 Hairy Legs; Claire Porter, choreographer of Claire Porter’s Portables; and Nai-Ni Chen, Artistic Director of Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company.
Are you a young choreographer or dance company based in New Jersey? Interested candidates for Jersey (New) Moves! may apply now through Thursday, January 1, 2015 at 5pm EST, online only, at njpac.org/jerseymoves. Chosen applicants will be notified no later than Feb. 15, 2015. Submissions are open to all unproduced choreographers or companies. Applicants should be prepared to submit artistic statements, video links to their work, and up to four pieces that have never been presented.
