Despite its passionate, obsessive editorial community, Wikipedia has glaring omissions in many categories, including only 17% of its contributors being female. Women artists are also among the most chronically underrepresented subjects in the site's 4.7 million pages. Once a year, intrepid art lovers step in together to correct this issue. The edit-a-thon adds new pages about women artists of all disciplines and beefs up existing entries that need help, with guidance for newbies on how to adhere to Wikipedia's strict contribution guidelines. MoMA hosts the main event, with satellites – some, like Babycastles' tech-themed Sunday session – happening elsewhere in the city.
