Event Description

NADA and CAFE DANCER invite you to
Contemporary Dancing: A Symposium

RSVP to Sarah Meister at sarahm@spotwelders.com

Contemporary Dancing, which takes its name from a song by Nils Bech, was presented at the second edition of NADA New York 2013. A three day program of dance curated by Cafe Dancer and Sam Gordon, Contemporary Dancing featured over forty-five dancers who perform within the art world today. The results will be screened on November 11th during a reception hosted by Spot Welders who also edited the video. The documentary is a chronological collection of the dance, interventions, and actions that took place throughout NADA New York's new venue at BasketBall City on the Lower East Side waterfront.

As symposium translates from Greek to drinking party, Cafe Dancer will present a pop up bar. A series of performances will take place throughout the evening and employ an existing mural by Guyton\Walker as both backdrop and stage. With a special focus on presenting the voice of the dancer, the documentary is narrated by Cassie Mey of the New York Public Library and the night will be hosted by Greg Zucculo, with performances by Rebecca Brooks and Jealous Orgasm.
