Event Description

The 89plus Colony Conference brings together local emerging artists and creative practitioners born in or after 1989. Participants and guests are invited to engage in an afternoon of informal conversations about their respective practices in the EXPO Colony. The discussions are followed by food and intimate live music performances.

89plus is a long-term, international, multi-platform research project co-founded by Simon Castets and Hans Ulrich Obrist, conceived as a mapping of this generation. Manifesting itself through panels, books, periodicals, exhibitions and residencies, 89plus brings together individuals from a generation whose voices are only just starting to be heard, yet which makes up almost half of the world’s population.

89plus hosts an ongoing open call on their website for creative practitioners from all disciplines to participate in 89plus events. There is only one rule: you must be 89plus—born in or after 1989.
