Profile Information

Individual or Collective?
Sophie LaVonne seeks to engage in a dialogical exchange with music, bridging the gap between bodies of sound and people to reach the height of human interaction via emotional inner-connectivity. She is currently a student at New York University where she studies Visual Representations of Music in Theory and Practice through Film, Dance, and Philosophy, utilizing music as a medium for the creation of each. Over the past couple years, she has taken the lead to bring multiple masters of street dance to workshops at NYU, as well as performed for Seventeen Magazine, Nike Industrials, and The Portland Trial Blazers. In addition, Sophie has choreographed for the state of Oregon's 150th anniversary, NYU, co-choreographed for MTVU artist, Chino Maurice's, latest music video, and directed a music video for Moth Complex--one of Ireland's top rock act. An enthusiast of poppin, wavin, house, and choreography, through dance, Sophie strives to gain an acute understanding of the body and its relationship to music in a way that breeds a constant state of unpredictable, unforgettable, and unimaginable emotive energy.
