About: Please tell us about your self. Some of our programs have benefits for art workers - please tell us if you are an artist and mention the most recent work/venue/space/residency where you have worked/developed your practice.
Founded in 1996 and organized as not-for-profit in the State of New York in 2003, CAVE is now one of the longest running experimental arts spaces in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. CAVE is an interdisciplinary and international workplace for emerging and established artists. From the starting-point of visual art and dance, CAVE strives to provide the a home for continuous development and enrichment of contemporary performance and visual arts. CAVE endeavors to establish an environment that attracts, provokes, and supports exchange, generative confrontation, and collaboration among artists and audiences from diverse cultures and artistic backgrounds. CAVE provides an explorative arena and support system to sustain the artistic work of its resident and community artists by: hosting studio workspace, educational programs, performance and exhibition opportunities; assisting the realization of projects and artistic productions that support risk-taking in the visual, media, performing and interdisciplinary arts.
CAVE is also the social action / artistic laboratory and fiscal conduit of artists Shige Moriya, Ximena Garnica and their company-project LEIMAY.
“The world is realized through experience, discovered through questioning, and changed by action.”
CAVE itself is a work of art, constantly transforming as a living organism open to new challenges, constantly re-shaping in response to internal and external dynamics
