Studio C Gallery is proud to announce our Third Annual All Women Artist Group Exhibition in May 2015. Our gallery is located at the Santa Fe Art Colony, in Los Angeles, CA.

About Our Space

Studio C Gallery is dedicated to exhibiting and emphasizing the work of women artists. We are committed in bringing attention to the feminine characteristics and trademarks of art making. Studio C creates a space for women artists to flourish by producing one group show and one solo show per season. Each year, the gallery will present exhibitions referring to a theme or a discipline.

This year we are looking for women artists, whose work is inspired by water. The title of the exhibition is Water-Line: Inspiration for Change. Water-Line is a line that marks the level of the surface of water on something, such as a hull of a ship, the horizontal line marked on a wall after a flood or the line where a body of water and the shore meet, such as an ocean or lake. Water-Line can be an indicator of balance in nature. Water is essential to life. We know that our bodies are made up of 50-65 % water. In the first stage of life, our body’s lungs learn to breathe in amniotic fluid. Essentially the first breath we take is in water. Water can enrapture our senses. Water symbolically cleanses our soul. The connection between women and bodies of water have remained an inspiration throughout time. This particular connectivity we would like to see through each artist’s personal contemplation on water, from environmental influence and change, to the sublime qualities that raise these questions. It is the intent of this exhibition to explore the feminine interpretation of water through a wide range of media.

Media

This exhibit has no predetermined expectation for type, style or media of work to be considered or selected. Submissions can range from the most traditional to the most conceptual or experimental. The only criteria is that the work interprets the theme of the show, “water”. All mediums are accepted, including video and installation.

Eligibility

Water-Line: Inspiration for Change is open to all women artists that reside in the Los Angeles area and beyond our borders. All entries must represent original works of art.

Jury and Curator

All entries are juried by a committee of women artists and art professionals. Each year, new jurors are selected in this process. Studio C Gallery will reveal the list of jurors at a later date.

Calendar

March 1st 2015 Deadline for received entries 

March 8th Notification sent to entrants by email within this week. 

May 16th & 17th Artwork due to Studio C Gallery, by this date. Drop-off is from the hours of 10am to 6pm

May 23rd Opening reception

June 12th Final day of exhibition.

June 13th & 14th Pick-up of hand delivered work

June 15th Schedule shipped artwork for pickup ( arranged by artist )

Submitting Video, Motion and Interactive entries or details.

All video or interactive submissions or video details illustrating an entry, must be in form of a link to a viewable online copy of each work. ( such as Vimeo or via a DropBox link ) The work should be shown online in its full length.

There is an entry fee of $27.00 US. Please limit 1 to 4 images per artist.

Additional images will be $5.00 per image. It is perfectly fine to send detail

images in addition, if necessary. Entry fee can be paid thru PayPal at

Additional Notes

Water-Line: Inspiration for Change will also coincide with the 26th Annual Santa Fe Art Colony Open Studios Event on May 23rd & 24th.

The opening reception for Water-Line will commence on the evening of May 23rd from 6 to 9 pm and will continue on May 24th from noon to 6pm.

The SFAC Open Studios is an established, well-attended event. Studio C Gallery is working closely with the SFAC committee to make our exhibition a very special affaire. Please stay in touch for more details of this event, as it unfolds.

Shipping to and from the gallery is the full responsibility of the artist.

All artwork is insured for the duration of the show. It is not insured in transit to and from the gallery. It is highly recommended to insure your work. If you are shipping your work from other states or overseas, please note the Calendar above, to make sure your work arrives on time. It has been our experience that the United States Postal Service is one of the more economical ways of shipping. Please check their website for more information. www.usps.com We are always happy to discuss any questions you may have about shipping. Studio C Gallery is committed to taking the best care of your work while it is with us. All shipping materials are saved, labeled and artwork re-packed in a diligent manner.

Note: After May 24th, the gallery is not open to the public, except by appointment. Studio C Gallery takes no commission. All sales go directly to the artist.
