DESCRIPTION:Vocal Training Workshop: From Specialized Practice to Jazz
  Repertoire Performance From October 13th., each Saturday 3 to 5pm ART
 /NY Studios  520 8th Avenue, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10018  Exploit yo
 ur potential as a solo and small vocal ensemble singer. Perfect your p
 erforming skills.    This workshop will focus on the development of t
 he singing voice through body awareness-applying the Feldenkrais Metho
 d-and voice techniques from the worlds of classical, jazz and contempo
 rary music. Aural awareness will be improved through ear exercises and
  free improvisation ensemble singing. Techniques for performance pract
 ice and dealing with performance anxiety will be addressed while worki
 ng in the interpretation and presentation of individual and small voca
 l ensemble songs in the areas of jazz and Latin jazz music.  The works
 hop will be divided in two periods of 10 weeks each one (a total of 40
  hours).   - Open to people with a background in singing.  - There wil
 l be a final concert. To be able to participate in the final concert, 
 students have to do Workshop Part I & Part II. - As a finalization of 
 the workshop there will be an open concert in March 30, 2013.  - There
  will be rehearsals with an accompanist musician during Workshop Part

 0 weeks, close attention will be paid to body awareness and voice tech
 nique. Participants will work to develop repertoire (they will choose 
 2 songs from a list given by the Instructor) and there will be songs p
 erformed in duos & trios. Individual and collective improvisational sk
 ills will also be developed.   Workshop Part II (10 weeks , 20 hours) 
 - January 5th. through March 30, 2013. For 10 weeks, close attention w
 ill be paid to voice technique and preparation for the live performanc
 e. Participants will rehearse their individual songs with an accompani
 st, and work as an ensemble to create collective improvisational piece
