DESCRIPTION:The Bureau for the Future of Choreography stages a means t
 o understand the choreographies of our democracy. With 1776, The Burea
 u invites the public to examine artifacts generated by the US governme
 nt through the participatory reenactment of an annotated US Senate pro
 ceeding. Each performance exposes structures and choreographic procedu
 res impacting the organization of bodies inside a nation-state. In 177
 6, the public assembles expressly as a body politic to perform one of 
 its mechanisms of governance.1776 will be accompanied by US in the US,
  a performative installation that proposes a score for political actio
 n and reflection. Visitors to the installation can READ critical texts
  on government, equity and forgotten histories; CALL US government rep
 resentatives to lodge complaints, grievances and/or poetic proposition
 s; and MARK sites of political protest and/or injustice on an interact
 ive map of the US.\n\nABOUT THE BUREAUThe Bureau for the Future of Cho
 reography is an apparatus that collectively builds performance experi
 ences and documents. The Bureau strives for group decision-making, and
  explores not only group dynamics but also states of embodiment as wel
 l as myths of individual and collective authorship. The Bureau produce
 s permeating archives of dance/performance and subsequent heterogeneou
 s histories. The Bureau is a state of flux, shifting appearance accord
 ing to the specific context. Rather than “products,” The Bureau is
  forever involved in research processes and practices to investigate p
 articipatory images of performance and systems of choreography.\n\nFor
