DESCRIPTION:MICHIYAYA Dance will premiere Spline, their second eveni
 ng-length work featuring the full company with live music by composer 
 and musician, Jordan Chiolis. \n\n\nSpline unfolds the exploration o
 f one's physical and psychological boundaries. MICHIYAYA Dance discove
 rs the systems in which we create and are created for us to conform to
  certain parameters. Industrial, biological, and interpersonal systems
  are challenged through a variety of narratives. Ideas of mental disor
 ders, individuality, and coexistence are investigated. Incorporated in
 to Spline's concept will be the life and physical voice of Co-Artistic
  Director Mitsuko Verdery's grandfather, Pampa. Pampa's life experienc
 es, and relationships serve as an inspiration for the work. The word s
 pline is defined as a key fitting into the grooves of a wheel, integra
 lly with the shaft to allow movement of the wheel. The definition of s
 pline is a great impetus for the work as it explains Clarke and Verder
 y's interest in the source and function of a problem, the physical and
