SUMMARY:SOAK 2016 LEIMAY LUDUS: Hunting Body Wisdom with Zack Fuller
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is focused on creating possibilities for imp
 rovisation and the development of an omni-centered body. It utilizes e
 lements of Grotowski work and Min Tanaka’s Body Weather workshops. C
 lass begins with a warm-up that is both vigorous and relaxing, moving 
 into focused explorations emphasizing the balance between structure an
 d impulse. The remainder of the lab involves slow movement combined wi
 th partnering exercises, physical actions from daily life, and visuali
 zation as a means of engaging the body’s inner stream. Appropriate f
 or dancers, movers, improvisers, actors, people interested in butoh, o
 r anyone seeking a physical experience. No previous dance training is 
 necessary.\n\nAbout Zack Fuller\nZack Fuller’s dances have been pres
 ented at CAVE’s New York Butoh Festival, Plan B in Tokyo, Mobius in 
 Boston, The Dance Hakushu Festival, Movement Research at Judson Church
 , St. Thomas College in Thrissur (India), and elsewhere. They frequent
 ly involve collaboration with cutting edge musicians such as Keiji Hai
 no, Tatsuya Nakatani, Kat Hernandez, and his longtime collaborator Jon
 athan Vincent. He is strongly influenced by his experience participati
 ng in theatrical research with Ryszard Cieslak, the leading actor of J
 erzy Grotowski’s Polish Laboratory Theater in the late eighties. Fro
 m 1997-2001 he performed throughout Europe, Japan, and the U.S. in wor
 ks by the renowned dancer/farmer Min Tanaka, including the U.S. tour o
