SUMMARY:SOAK 2016 LEIMAY LUDUS: Voice as Movement with Peter Sciscioli
DESCRIPTION:This lab is intended for anyone interested in exploring or
using voice as a practice and/or in performance. Using an anatomy-bas
ed approach to increasing awareness of the breath, accessing many dime
nsions of sound production, and working into speaking and singing, we
will discover how exploring the voice as movement can expand the varie
ty of choices that are available to performers, connect us to our uniq
ue vocal power, and allow for a fuller means of expression through the
body.\n \n\"Peter Sciscioli gave a wonderful workshop for our combin
ed Music & Movement and Modern 1 classes. His ease with the presentati
on and explanatory demonstrations (some quite extraordinary) really sh
owed us how deeply he is involved in this material, and gave us a glim
pse at the breadth of his skill and knowledge. In one, all too short w
orkshop (due to our class periods), my Music and Movement students wer
e positively excited by the introduction to a different way of thinkin
g about sound, movement, and communication. I could imagine his teachi
ng being useful to many, either in or out of the Arts.\"\n-John Hanks,
