DESCRIPTION:With “Simultaneous Translation”, Katarzyna Krakowiak w
 ill realize a site specific investigation into the acoustics of the ch
 urch at 360 Church street where RU is located. Over the course of the 
 evening she will perform a reading of the geometry of the space that w
 ill divulge how sound travels and voices are contained by the walls. T
 he audience will be privy to the unfolding of a sound narrative and ho
 w her method of reading invisible voices references the building in it
 s entirety although her intervention only takes place in a section of 
 it. A simultaneous translation of the soundscape will take place.\nKat
 arzyna Krakowiak (b. 1980) explores sculpture and architecture with t
 he use of various media, notably sound. Her solo exhibition for the Po
 lish Pavilion at the 13th International Architecture Exhibition—La B
 iennale di Venezia, Making the walls quake as if they were dilating wi
 th the secret knowledge of great powers (Venice, 2012), received a Spe
 cial Mention. Other significant exhibitions include Who Owns the Air?,
  Galeria Foksal (Warsaw, 2011), and Game and Theory, South London Gall
 ery (London, 2009).\nKatarzyna Krakowiak’s residency is organized in
  association with A-I-R Laboratory/Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdo
 wski Castle in Warsaw, Poland with support of the Polish Cultural In
