DESCRIPTION:Bassist/composer Drew Gress performs extensively with arti
 sts on the cutting edge of contemporary improvised music. His latest p
 roject - The Sky Inside, features Drewâ€™s original compositions forÂ 
 quintet, due for release in early 2013. Earlier releases include the c
 ritically-acclaimed The Irrational Numbers (2008), 7 Black Butterflies
  (2005), Spin & Drift (2001), and Heyday (1997). Drew canÂ also be hea
 rd within the ensembles of John Abercrombie, Ralph Alessi, Tim Berne, 
 Don Byron, Uri Caine, Bill Carrothers, Marc Copland, Mark Feldman, Fre
 d Hersch, John Hollenbeck, SteveÂ Lehman, Tony Malaby, Angelica Sanche
 z, Paul Smoker and John Surman. To date he has appeared on over 250 re
 cordings and has toured North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa 
 andÂ Australia.Â \nDrew has served as Artist-in-Residence in Santiago 
 (Chile), the St. Petersburg Conservatory (Russia), and at the Paris Co
 nservatoire (France). He also holds ongoing teaching positions at NYUÂ
  and at the Siena Jazz Workshop. He has received grants from the Natio
 nal Endowment for the Arts, Meet the Composer, and Chamber Music Ameri
 ca, and currently resides in New York. Drew is anÂ endorsing artist fo
 r Thomastik Strings.Denmark's Lars Graugaard is a prolific and chamele
 on-like pioneer who moves with ease between a variety of musical areas
 . His background lies in a mix of musical styles and roles includingÂ 
 composer and performer of classical and contemporary musics. Holding a
  MA in music performance and a PhD Interactive music allows him a uniq
 ue and innovative take on electronic music,Â where he emphasizes music
 's expressive capacities in immediately communicative settings.\nHe ha
 s worked with a wide range of artists - in jazz he has played with nam
 es such as Mal Waldron, Ed Thigpen, Marilyn Mazur and Niels-Henning Ã˜
 rsted Pedersen - with releases on smallÂ independents and major labels
 . A multiple recipient of artist grants, Lars now focuses his performi
 ng energies on realtime interaction with an entirely unique re-imagini
 ng of the possibilities of theÂ 21st century jazz idiom. Lars is Visit
 ing Faculty Artists at NYU Steinhardt, lecturer at Medialogy, Aalborg 
 University (Denmark), composer-in-residence with Grup Moderna, Valenci
 a (Spain) andÂ artistic director of the re-new media arts festival (De
